IT Recruitment in New Zealand on the Rise

IT recruitment in New Zealand is up an astonishing 26.4% on the state of the market 2 years ago. Employers are looking to fill a host of IT positions, with hiring intentions in the sector for the fourth quarter of the year up by 2.7% when compared to 2010.

The survey, carried out in September, polled 1,089 employers across 16 industry segments, including IT and telecommunications, to find that many were now looking to expand their businesses again in the wake of recession.

The survey’s summary of key findings notes “Information technology is the second most confident industry nationally, with employer sentiment up 2.1 percentage points over the [July to September] quarter to 51.4 percent, from 49.3 percent, and up 2.7 percentage points year-on-year.

“The uplift is driven by the Government’s $1.5 billion investment in the rollout of the ultra-fast broadband network over the next ten years” and “moves by New Zealand businesses to continue investing in upgrading their technology platforms is driving demand for skilled business analysts and testers in the sector.”

One Response to IT Recruitment in New Zealand on the Rise

  1. Yes, great article. Take it from a recruitment company based n.z, the increase has been very noticeable at the ground level and continues to rise rapidly. 2012 should see an even bigger supply of these jobs.
